Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My son Sam was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) in August 2016. As you can imagine, this news was like a dagger to the heart and something that no parent wants to hear about their son, let alone anyone else. Sam was immediately admitted to hospital and started chemotherapy the very next day. Within a few weeks Sam had lost all of his hair and was well and truly deep into the battle of his life against this horrible disease.
At the time of writing this i'm very pleased to say that Sam is Very much on the road to recovery. After 6 months of intensive chemotherapy his consultant has said that the treatment is working well and he has now moved onto a further 3 years (approx) of slightly less intensive chemotherapy treatment. This is due to finish in late 2019. Sam has been amazing throughout this horrendous journey; from the first day he realised he had cancer to where he is now. He has remained positive and kept his witty, fun personality; we can only hope that he stays this way through the remainder of his journey.
During the visits and stays in hospital CLIC Sargent have been there to support both Sam and our family all of the way. The support and advice they offer is fantastic and i wanted to run the marathon to try and raise some money to offer something back to them. This will also go some way in helping them continue to offer the same support to other families that are also going through difficult times.
