At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Hi,

Thanks for visiting my page.

I'm running the Newark Half Marathon on 14th August in aid of Alzheimer's Society.

I've personally been affected by how Dementia can affect the lives of the sufferer and family. I believe so much more can be done through care and developing new drugs and treatments.

By 2021, 1 million people in the UK will have dementia..at some point in your life you will have direct contact with someone that has been diagnosed with Dementia.

£50.00 could pay for a PhD researcher for a day to continue vital research into understanding the causes of Dementia.

£200.00 could help run one session of Singing for the Brain, an Alzheimer's Society activity that enable people with Dementia and their carers to engage in the benefits of structured community singing. Involving singing and gentle exercise, the emphasis is on enjoyment, participation and equality.

Any support you can give would be great. I'm not doing this just to raise money but also awareness so please like this page so I can spread the word!

Thank you for your time.

Dean
