Event: Great North Run 2021, on 12 September 2021
In memory of Ian Wray
The Great North Run is the largest half marathon in the world, taking place annually in North East England each September. Participants run between Newcastle upon Tyne and South Shields.

Story

Please sponsor me as I take on the Great North Run to raise funds for Lindsey Lodge

Back in August 2020, Ian was diagnosed with bladder cancer. He even drove himself to Doncaster hospital for an overnight stay, to have the tumour removed. Then in the November, he went back for a check up, to be told his full bladder would have to be removed. He had the operation on Nov 27th and hoped this would be successful.

Unfortunately on January 14th 2021, he was told he may only have weeks to live. Ian went into Lindsey Lodge and his loving partner Elaine, said they could not have done enough to make Ian's final weeks comfortable.

Sadly at the age of just 55, Ian passed away on January 31st 2021

Running the GNR will hopefully give Elaine and Ian's family some comfort, in knowing how loved he was and will be forever in everyone's thoughts and memories
