Story

Having been given the opportunity to do the London Marathon back in 2019 for the Fire Fighters Charity I was devastated when I was unable to continue.

At 40 years old, i was a healthy and active fire fighter when I was struck down with the debilitating illness Encephalitis in March 2019 and whilst having treatment I contracted Covid leaving me seriously ill in hospital for 8 weeks.

The Marathon itself was cancelled because of the covid pandemic and my space was delayed but given how ill I was I never expected to be able to complete this challenge.

Having now been given the opportunity to take my place in the 2023 London marathon I'm determined to raise as much as I can for the Fire Fighters Charity. A cause close to my heart. During my time within the fire service I was lucky to be given help from this amazing charity and I've seen first hand the wonderful work they do for the men and women who serve.
