Story
Over four days in June 2020 myself and three friends will attempt the 5 Peaks challenge. This challenge encompasses climbing the 5 highest mountains in Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Wales, England and Scotland (Slieve Donard, Carrauntoohil, Snowden, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis).
We will attempt to complete this challenge to raise funds for a local charity, Down Right Brilliant. Down Right Brilliant are a registered charity (no.100736). They provide support for individuals with Down Syndrome and their families in the County Down area. I personally became involved with Down Right Brilliant in 2016 not long after the birth of my son Peter who was diagnosed at birth with Down Syndrome. Down Right Brilliant have been massively supportive to my son Peter and my family and we would like to give something back. Like many worthy charities Down Right Brilliant rely heavily on fundraising to deliver their fabulous services, which include; weekly speech and numeracy clubs, drama groups and exercise activities, weekly youth club, short programmes including cookery, cycling and day trips. Down Right Brilliant also offers activities for carers. You can find out more about Down Right Brilliant by visiting this Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/wearedrb/
