Story
Hi, I'm Darren - but you probably know that if you're already on my page. As you may know, I am running the London Marathon this April, and I can't wait!
I've been training hard for the past few months, and I can only hope that it will pay off in the long run - if you'll pardon the pun!
I am married to Ashley, and we have two lovely children Molly and Theo - well, sometimes they're lovely! They are all full of encouragement... if you include begging me to run down to our local Tescos for Fruit Pastilles on a daily basis!
Why am I running the London Marathon, and raising money for Macmillan simultaneously?
Well, firstly - I'm bloody mad! I have always wanted to run the Marathon, but this year actually decided to enter the public ballot and take it one step further. So my 15 minutes of fame... well 4hrs 15mins of fame, is slowly drawing nearer.
The answer to the second is simple. 16 years ago my Father-In-Law, Peter Mileham, passed away after battling with Pancreatic Cancer. It was during Peter's illness that we came into contact with the Macmillan nurses, and witnessed first hand the incredible work they do every day. Sadly, this lovely man lost his battle 3 months before Molly was born. They somehow made what was a very sad period much easier for everyone to get through. Always on hand for advice and controlling his pain relief; We never lost faith in them.
Every £25 could pay for a Macmillan nurse for an hour, helping people living with cancer and their families recieve essential medical, practical and emotional support.
A huge thank you to those of you who have either donated online or on my sponsorship form! If you are free on the day, please come along and support the runners, and join in with general excitement and hype! Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page, and any amount of donations would be greatly appreciated.
