To all my friends 

On the 20th July 2014 a team of ex/retired Grenadier Guards will play a team of current Grenadiers in a 11 v 11 football match at Lille Barracks in Aldershot for the Darren Chant memorial Trophy. Darren was Regimental Sergeant Major for the 1st Bn when he was killed by a rogue policeman in Afghanistan. I had the great pleasure of serving with Darren and the sad duty of carrying his coffin when he was laid to rest.

The game will raise money for the Colonels Fund a registered charity set up to support all Grenadier Guards killed or injured since 1991. The regiment has lost 16 killed and many many more injured in that time as the regiment continues to operate at the forefront of our countries conflicts

As a now retired Grenadier of some 26 years and having served in all Theatres of Operations.  I could think of no Greater way than to help the Colonel's Fund Charity Grenadier Guards by playing the sport I Love with the friends I Love who are with us on 20th July (Match day) and for those friends I loved whom have made the ultimate sacrifice...

I am seeking to raise at least £500 to help support the many in need for many years to come
