Story
The Stitch team and friends have bravely decided to take part in this year’s Great Bristol 10k Run in memory of our wonderful Emma and to raise money for the Princess Alice hospice. When Emma was first diagnosed with cancer in April 2019 the hospital she was attending very quickly put her and her family in touch with the Princess Alice hospice. The staff there are absolutely dedicated to the care and wellbeing of patients and their families. As well as helping Emma, Ed and Hattie come to terms with Emma’s diagnosis and assist with her medical needs, they were also on hand to provide additional help with emotional issues, financial concerns and other more practical problems. The team work tirelessly to ensure patient care is well co-ordinated and seamlessly built around the needs of patients and families. They have also offered excellent but respectful bereavement care to Ed and Hattie in the months since Emma died, checking in with them regularly to provide support and guidance as well as just a friendly voice to talk to. The event is taking place on 19 September 2021, starting at the Bristol harbourside and heading out through the Avon Gorge before doubling back to Spike Island and ending up in the city centre, possibly in a glorious heap on the floor. Running 10k is a pretty big deal for some us (we’re not necessarily all natural athletes) but we’re taking on the challenge to raise money for a cause that’s very dear to all our hearts. We can’t think of a more worthy cause for which to raise money in Emma’s memory. Thank you for your donation, whatever the size, it will make a real difference to families needing care and support in tough times.
