Story
Sheffield entrepreneur Dawn Bates has done it again… come up with an idea only to think about the realities afterwards! But this time, she is building on the successes that she created back in 2009 with Sheffield’s Fashion and Lifestyle Event and in 2010 with the Sheffield Half Marathon, by entering the Great North Swim’s 2 mile circuit in Lake Windermere on 14th June at 11am.
Having already raised just over £13,500 with the above events for SITRaN, becoming a local founding Patron of the organisation, Dawn’s target for the swim is just £1000, and this time it is for Motor Neurone Disease Foundation.
Several years ago I watched my next door neighbour go from a very fit and active woman, to someone who could still think as sharply as she had always done, but day by day watched and felt her body slowly stop working. She was not only generous, considered and a joy to be with, she also gave tirelessly to others less fortunate than herself. Whether she was organising or speaking at events to raise awareness of key social issues, she always did it with all her energy and passion. To watch her slowly decline was heart breaking. So this swim is for Cathy, in one of her favourite locations in the UK. May your spirit get me across that finish line Cathy!! :) Thank you for inspiring me to always give to others whilst giving to myself.
And thank you all for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page to make a donation for this great cause! You're making a HUGE difference to so many lives. How cool is that!? :)
