This year I will be attempting to run 20 marathons and ultra marathons for EHE Rare Cancer Charity UK. Last year after the birth of her son, my sisters friend Nicola was diagnosed with the rare vascular cancer called EHE (Epithelioid Haemangioendothelioma). Since her diagnosis Nicola along with her family and friends have been working hard to set up this charity and raise valuable funds.

EHE is so rare that it accounts for only 0.01% of the cancer population and it affects around 1 in every 1,000,000 worldwide.  It is unresponsive to any known Chemotherapy therefore making treatment very difficult.  EHE research receives no funding from other sources and relies solely on the patients and their families to raise funds.

If you would like some more information on the disease and to understand where your money will help others please visit www.ehercc.org.uk

Of the 20 races I'm doing this year these three will be my biggest challenges......

28th August - The UTMB CCC (Courmayer - Champex - Chamonix). A 101km race around Mont Blanc starting in Italy, passing through Switzerland and finishing in France. It's not the distance it's the 6100m of ascent that scares me! I'm hoping to finish within the 26.5hr cut off.

17th October - Autumn 100 - 100 miles along the Ridgeway and Thames Path. I'm hoping for a PB at this distance and a sub 24hr finishers buckle.

4-6th December - The Hill Ultra - 160 miles to be covered by running up and down Shining Tor in the Peak District 55 times. There is an elevation gain of 6380m and a DNF (did not finish) rate of 94%, there have been no female finishers. I know my chances of finishing this race are pretty much non existent but I will give it my best shot!
