Story
Why the Brain Tumour Charity... When anyone you love has past it’s devastating regardless of the how and when’s. Having heartbreakingly lost My Dad 6 years ago and having to say goodbye to Hazel my best friend of 39 years in February I really wanted to do something in Memory of two people that meant the world to me. With Brain Tumours taking them both away along with my Grandad and a cousin at just the age of 14, helping The Brain Tumour Charity is my way of keeping them close to my heart.
About me.. Like most of us I have my own daily health battles. I suffer with Ankylosing Spondylitis, Psoriasis arthritis, Autoimmune disease and this year I've been diagnosed with Crohn's disease. I have to have weekly anti-tumour injections which basically is what keeps me moving. After two spinal operations and now 7 stone lighter daily exercise has become very important to me so this is more than just a fundraising challenge year its definitely also a personal challenge as I've learnt you never know what life will throw at you so be the best you while helping others. Im a Landlady/Cheffette with a little village Pub on the edge of Dartmoor along with my Husband and my mum we have a nice little business. I have two children now young adults but both still keeping me on my toes.
The Challenge... I had given myself 12 months to ‘STEP 3.5 MILLION STEPS’ which is further than walking from Land’s End to John O’Groats . But with Covid-19 lockdown I was only working half days so in May I decided to step ‘ONE MILLION STEPS’ in one month, this then meant I finished 3.5 Million steps a little early. So I then upped my challenge to ‘5 MILLION STEPS’ which I quietly completed in July. After completing the extreme challenge of The London Marathon it only seemed right to keep going for the Brain Tumour charity so I decided I won't stop until I reach 8 Million steps .
Just two years ago I couldn't even walk 1 mile without a stick as well as being told 20 years ago I would be wheelchairs bound by the time I was 40 just shows what you can really do if you want too.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story 🥰 All charities are currently struggling with the year we have all had So I know they will be very grateful for any donations right now, and your kind donations are definitely helping to keep me moving. 😘love & hugs 🤗 stay safe 😷
