Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
After numerous years suffering with complicated neurological problems I was finally diagnosed at the UCLH with MND in 2016, this news was received with both devastation & relief that I finally knew what was going on. I want people to understand what living with a terminal illness is like, MND slowly takes parts of you away destroying your identity but worse is watching the people you love the most trying to deal with such a cruel illness. I was determined to fight each day at a time & carried on working even though I had lost the use of my upper limbs & was now in a wheelchair after numerous serious falls, MND’s way of reminding you it’s there.
It is so important to remain mentally strong & positive & this can only be achieved with a strong will & a loving & supportive family & friends. I try not to look back at the strong, confident, independent person I was & just look positively at what I can still do even though everyday is a battle however I am a very lucky person because in April 2018 I became a nanny to my beautiful perfect grandson & I have continued to go on holiday & even though I have to be hoisted I refuse to be beaten. My biggest fear is losing my voice & having difficulties with my breathing however I have decided to stay strong & attempt to complete this challenge with my son Jordan Johnson & best friend Carl Tudor & hope to raise money for MND research as we need a cure now.
To you MND - words cannot describe how I loathe you with every single fibre of my being. We are fighting for a world free from MND - and one day we WILL beat you.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for your support, Dawn 💋💋💋
