Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I know I need to exercise for my well-being and mental health and during lockdown my Peloton bike was amazing and going for the odd run, but I’m getting older and body (especially my knees) just said no to going for a run, the only thing I wanted to do in lockdown was run a bath!!!
So when a friend suggested going for a snowy walk in the kent countryside for her birthday I was all over it! From that said walk my mate Fran had one of her crazy ideas of “random thought but.....” and of course I was in, we chose the Peak District Trek as it is a beautiful part of the world and Marie Curie holds a special place in my heart as they cared for my beloved Grandad years ago.
So with a plan to smash 26 miles in July we started winter training, we got ourselves #allthekit with some fancy hiking boots, backpacks and after renaming huge big sticks #gandalfsticks to walk with we even got the trekking poles, I’m telling you #wemakethisshitlookgood of course the only thing my backpack contained at first was my water, lip balm and tissues!
I keep saying to Fran we should of started a blog because the laughs we have had so far has been awesome, from getting lost even with directions, to falling in epic snow, having to climb over barbed wire fences (carefully minding lady parts) and sliding down muddy hills, it’s been a blast! There is nothing more freeing than getting outside and clearing your head with beautiful surroundings, great company, laughter, randomly talking crap and of course coffee!
So Fran and I will continue out training and will be sharing some of our highlights with you along the way, a lot of our conversations during our weekly walks consists of all of the high calorie snack we just HAVE to take, yes!!!!
Thank you all for your donations and support to such a great cause.
Loads of love
