Story

I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to organise a 3 hour spin marathon event hosted at my gym, Chatham Park, to support two very worthy charities close to my heart. The event will take place on the 23rd of June 2017. There will be 15 of us taking part (including myself!) and we will be doing around 5/6 spin classes back to to back totalling 3 hours. I am personally going to attempt to cycle 65km within this time frame! Thanks for taking the time to read my fundraising story below and I would be eternally grateful of any small donation you can make. It would mean so much to me.Thank you xx

The first charity is a very special school in the East Grinstead area which my 10 year old son Reuben attends called Step by Step school for children with Autism.

Step by Step is a small independent day school providing specialised teaching for primary/secondary and 6th form pupils, age 4-19, who have a diagnosis on the Autistic spectrum. The school was founded in 2003 by a courageous group of parents who had been running home education programmes. It is now a registered charity and relies heavily on generous contributions of friends, families, charitable trusts and local companies. Its thanks to this generosity that the school was made possible and its vital for its future that this support continues.

The second charity is called Bridge the Gap, which raises awareness of Syngap1 syndrome and funds research into future possible treatments.

Syngap1 is a non-hereditary spontaneous "spelling mistake"- so to speak- in the Syngap gene. The gene is responsible for producing a protein that is vital for normal brain function and development. This results in a spectrum of conditions ranging from mild to severe, including delayed development, learning difficulties and autism. Two thirds of people with this syndrome will also develop absence epilepsy.

The syndrome was only recently discovered in 2009 and our son only diagnosed 2 years ago. Since its discovery there are more and more people being diagnosed every week and its unknown how many more are undiagnosed. My aim is to raise awareness of this and to raise funds to go into research for future treatment. http://bridgesyngap.org

Unfortunately, I could only add one UK charity to this giving page, however all money raised from the event will be spilt 50/50 to each charity.

Thank you so much once again xxx
