Story
The Movement Centre Emergency Fund – helping kids to reach their potential
When my son came into the world all we wished for was for him to have the same opportunity to learn and develop like all children deserve. He was born with down syndrome and a range of other medical complications. Yet after a year in intensive care we were nowhere near anything resembling normality. By the time he was four, he still had very little trunk control and was a way off being mobile, the prospect of him ever walking was a distant dream.
That’s when we discovered that there was an option. A Shropshire-based charity could help, just the way it was helping many other children. This charity is The Movement Centre. And the referral to them
transformed our lives in indescribable ways. My son Stan responded very well to the specialist treatment, Targeted Training, delivered at The Movement Centre. And today he is a happy, very mobile boy, actively participating in the life and the adventures of our family. This would not have been possible without The Movement Centre.
I know how much The Movement Centre can improve the lives of children and their families. In recent years I have become involved with many of the cases touched by the charity. I have also become more
involved with the organisation itself. And today I am its voluntary chairman.
As much as our organisation is helping in ways no other can, are service ability is under threat. NHS funding has been cut and so the centre has had to drastically adjust. Some families will be able to pay for the demanding treatments. But most families won’t. Due to NHS cuts we
now have to support towards the costs of all of the children who come to The Movement Centre, which has put increased pressure on our finances and we need your support to help us raise additional funds, so we don’t have to turn away families that require our services.
A small donation to The Movement Centre Emergency Fund will go a long way to help us survive and let us help children from all over the UK. Sustained support will help us to plan for a better future and to expand our efforts to help even more families in need.
Your donation will have a direct impact on The Movement Centre’s ability to help children.
I am grateful for what The Movement Centre has achieved for my son and for many children and their families across the United Kingdom and more children deserve to receive the specialist treatment to help them reach their potential.
This is your opportunity to give help to children who really need it.
Please give generously. We hope you can help us to continue our efforts.
Many thanks from me and from all of us at The Movement Centre.

Chairman
