Story
Hello once again,
I have been lucky enough to successfully summit Mount Everest 5 times over the last decade in an effort to raise much needed funds for the Nspcc's on-going battle against Child Sexual Abuse. However, this climb will also aim to raise funds for the Earthquake in Nepal through DEC - Disaster Emergency Committee.
The DEC brings 13 leading UK aid charities together in times of crisis: Action Aid, Age International, British Red Cross, CAFOD, Care International, Christian Aid, Concern Worldwide, Islamic Relief, Oxfam, Plan UK, Save the Children, Tearfund and World Vision; all collectively raising money to reach those in need quickly. On the 13th June 2015 I once again leave the comforts of home, this time to attempt a summit of K2 , “The Killer Mountain”.
As I have done repeatedly with Everest, I intend to employ this vast, majestic mountain as a vehicle with which to raise substantial, much needed funds for the now destitute people of Nepal and the NSPCC.
This and all my previous climbs have been self-funded - every single penny donated will go directly to DEC and the people of Nepal who desperately need it.
My previous expedition dispatches from Kathmandu, Base Camp and the higher reaches of Mt Everest have been a determined effort to both entertain and also open a window to a parallel universe that I truly love. No one returns from such places the same person who left.
My forthcoming K2 expedition will open a new window – instead of Kathmandu and Nepal, read Islamabad, the Hindu Kush, Karakorum and the sheer wild west of remotest Northern Pakistan.
I ask that once again you join with me in my campaign and dig as deep as possible in the knowledge that DEC will put any donation made, to very good use.
My site provides direct access to the expedition – I hope you "save to your favorites" and follow along as the dispatches arrive – simply click “Alerts”, add your e-mail address, and you will be notified of any new postings.
