Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.

On Sunday 25th April of this year I will be running the Virgin London Marathon in aid of my employer the Scottish SPCA.

This is my first (and probably last) marathon, given the pain I have been feeling with my training thus far. It has however given me the opportunity to wear tights for the first time which has been very uplifting! I'm sure by 25th April I'll be fighting fit and ready to take on Haile Gebrselassie!

If you are not fully aware of work of the Scottish SPCA I have set out below a little bit of information on what we do:

The Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Scottish SPCA) is Scotland's animal welfare charity. The charity's objectives are to prevent cruelty to animals and encourage kindness and humanity in their treatment.

As an animal welfare charity we receive no government or lottery funding and rely on public donations to continue the vital work rescuing and rehoming Scotland's abandoned, neglected and defenceless animals.

Scottish SPCA Inspectors save thousands of domestic, farm and wild animals from harm and danger every year, while vets and staff in their wildlife and animal rescue and rehoming centres look after, rehabilitate and rehome thousands more.

In addition we run an animal welfare education programme in schools, communities and the largest animal welfare centres and campaign for improved animal welfare standards.

Volunteers play a key role working with animals, supporting the education programme and fundraising in their local communities.

The Scottish SPCA is entirely separate from the RSPCA, which operates in England and Wales only. There is no such charity as the 'RSPCA Scotland' or 'Scottish RSPCA'!

I am sure you will agree a very worthwhile cause.

Donating through Just Giving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with Just Giving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated and will make a difference to the welfare of Scotland's animals.
