Story
I'm running the 2021 Great North Run for Prostate Cancer UK in memory of my dad, John Meehan, who passed away on May 23rd 2019.
My dad lived with prostate cancer for 5 years. By the time he was diagnosed, his cancer was incurable as it had spread outside of the prostate. This meant it could only be contained but never cured.
For 4 years he managed to do all of the things he had previously done and it never seemed to affect him. But suddenly in 2018 he became ill and never truly recovered.
We miss him greatly and his passing has left a hole that cannot be filled.
But in his name I hope to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK and any donations, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated.
According to Prostate Cancer UK, prostate cancer is set to be the most commonly diagnosed of all cancers in the UK by 2030.
Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition – to stop men dying from prostate cancer. Through shifting the science over the next 10 years we will stop prostate cancer being a killer.
Thanks
