It is Great North Run time again.  Sometimes I feel embarrassed about asking for sponsorship but then I think again  - this helps people who need help.  For most of us our 'credit crunch' is just a minor blip compared to the issues faced by the people in debt ridden countries.  Sally (wife) has strong personal links with an AIDS orphanage in South Africa and one of the girls died of TB recently through entirely preventable circumstances - it was just a little reminder of how much we take for granted.

So I have been out and done as much training as I can, although a bit interrupted by ailments.  During my training, I have fallen over in Stocksfield, been chased by a dog in Poland, got lost in Knowsley, and seen a Hobby in Kent (it's a bird).

For every pound that I am sponsored I will add 40 pence, so £500 sponsorship will cost me £200. 

I am aiming to be inside 1 hour 35 minutes, not bad for 56, but that depends on the calf muscle holding up.  Last year I limped across the line with a very nice lady from Yorkshire called Liz as we were both suffering - just outside 1.35.
