Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
In July 2020, David was diagnosed with Multiple System Atrophy, a rare neurological disorder which is caused by degeneration or atrophy of nerve cells in several areas in the brain. This can result in problems with movement, balance, and autonomic functions of the body.
David sadly lost his battle at home peacefully on Sunday 08 May 2022. David was exceptionally brave and dignified throughout the illness and we couldn’t be more proud of him.
The challenge Kelly, Darren and Kara have decided to undertake is the Lake District Ultra Challenge on 10 and 11 June 2023. Joining them on this challenge is Amy, Darren’s partner and Rhea , one of Kelly’s best friends! The Challenge base-camp is in Kendal, and from there it’s a 100km anticlockwise loop taking in a couple of tough hills, Garburn Pass, Ambleside, a half way point by Lake Windermere, forests, and nature reserves – with some stunning views en route. 100km in two days!!! See the link below to see exactly what we have taken on to do.

Recent research suggests MSA affects about 4.4 people per 100,000. Currently there is no cure, it is a terminal illness and the only way we can change this is to bring awareness to this illness and raise money to help support research into finding a cure.
The money we raise will go to the MSA Trust, the only charity in the UK and Ireland who support people living with MSA. Not only do they promote and support research into MSA to increase understanding, find the cause and ultimately a cure, but most importantly they support people living with the illness, their families and carers.
If you could help us raise awareness by sharing our story and allow us to raise funds for this essential charity then we would be forever grateful.
All our love Elizabeth, Stuart, Stephen, Kelly, Darren and Kara x
