Story
Many thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Early next year I will be taking a disabled person on a trip of a lifetime aboard the ' Lord Nelson', a Tall Ship designed and built specifically to be sailed by disabled and able-bodied people working together on an equal basis.
In October 2012 the Lord Nelson set off to become the first accessible Tall Ship to sail around the world and we will be joining her for a 28-day voyage from India to Singapore, via Sri Lanka, Thailand and Malaysia.
Important Note: Because your donation will help pay for the voyage expenses for my Buddy, sadly it is not eligible for Gift Aid so if you are a UK tax payer please UNSELECT the box saying “I’m not donating on behalf of a group, company or someone else and I'm not getting a ticket, product or service in return for my donation” when making your donation.
I hope that this trip will give my 'Buddy' – who will be chosen through a competition in the local press – the opportunity to face new challenges and come home saying “Yes, I did it!” Having sailed with the Jubilee Sailing Trust many times I know that for many people this can be a life-changing experience, enabling them to cope with the challenges they face secure in the knowledge that nothing in life is impossible.
I’m covering all my own costs myself, but I need to raise £4,000 to cover the passage, air flights, insurance and sundry expenses for my Buddy, so please give generously to help me reach this target. Any money raised over and above these costs will be used by the Jubilee Sailing Trust.
