Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Niemann-Pick Disease Group Uk gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
The charity:
I will be taking part in two events in support of a small charity The Niemann-Pick Disease Group. In taking part for charity, I choose smaller groups that do not have huge budgets, and lots of cash to spend on publicity.
This group relies solely on membership fees, voluntary donations, fundraising events and charitable grants for its income - please sponsor generously!!
Niemann-Pick disease is a group of rare, inherited, metabolic conditions most often affecting children, for which there is currently no treatment or cure.
A child with the most severe type of the disease will usually die before reaching three years of age, whilst the other types will die young, and endure health problems casing them to be bedridden and tube-fed.
London Triathlon Olympic Distance
www.thelondontriathlon.co.uk
(I am doing this just one week after completing an event called Tough Guy - see www.toughguy.co.uk and you'll see that suddenly this triathlon then becomes VERY hard!?!).
This is the largest triathlon in the world, and some coverage will be broadcast on BBC over the weekend.
The distances say it all really, the swim is in Albert docks, and there are no sides to hold on to on the way round. 750m ot the big blue bouy, get round it and come back! On the swim, if I stop in the middle of the pack I would probably be swum over by a few hundred people - so I guess I won't be stopping.
My main challenge will be recovering from the previous weekend.
1500m (0.93 mile) Swim (60 lengths of a 25m pool)
40km (24.8 miles) Cycle
10km (6.2 miles) Run
