Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
David visited many places in his lifetime but the one "bolt hole" that he always returned to was our cottage in the Lake District.
David walked many of the mountains in his lifetime in rain, wind, snow and sun and was present with me when I completed the last one, having visited every peak in the national park. We open a 1979 bottle of Scotch on the top and drank to our shared love of the hills and the achievement we'd completed together.
Although in recent years, he wasn't fit enough to climb the fells, he continued to walk in the valleys and visited old haunts around the Lakes each time he went, this time sharing his passion with his grandson Ryan.
David actually suffered a heart attach on a mountain in 1986 but fortunately, was able to descend and seek medical attention. Others are not so fortunate.
He would have been delighted to know that we were able to support Keswick Mountain Rescue - a hard working team of volunteers who don't receive the same funding that other charities seem to get because they're not "fashionable". Nevertheless, they save lives and give peace of mind to thousands who visit the National Park each year.
