Yorkshire Marathon 2022 · 16 October 2022 ·

Every 2 hours, someone in the UK sustains a spinal cord injury. Their world – and that of their family – is turned upside-down. SIA aim to reach everyone affected by spinal cord injury, to connect them to all the help and support they need to life a fulfilled life.

Story

In April 2022, my friend Jamie suffered life changing injuries. After falling on Tryfan Ridge in Wales, he endured multiple broken ribs, two collapsed lungs and damage to the T12/L2 area of his spine.

So, I've decided to run the Yorkshire Marathon in October to raise money for Spinal Injuries Association.

Spinal Injuries Association provide support for those with spinal cord injures, including help with mental health, body matters and day-to-day life during recovery.

Although I've done a number of slow long distance trail runs, this will be a fast road marathon. It will be a new kind of challenge for me, one that is extremely unforgiving on the body with the impact that the road has on returning plenty of energy back into the joints *insert old man emoji here*.

Donations of whatever you can afford are greatly appreciated.
