Tommy was my cousin and my friend. He was a friend to everyone that knew him. By the time I attempt to run the 26.2 miles around Dublin City, it will have been just a year since he died.
Tommy fought a terrible disease; a battle which he ultimately lost. It's an illness that is hard to talk about and even harder to understand: addiction.
I hope that by running in Tommy's name for the charity AddAction, it will inspire us all to be a little more honest about the demons within and around us. There but for the grace of god.
So please dig deep and donate now. If we can help just one person win their battle against addiction, then we will be doing Tommy, and ourselves, proud.
If this Marathon goes well, and I can still walk afterwards, I would also like to try and get a place to run for AddAction in the London Marathon in 2013 too.

God bless you, Tommy. This one is for you.
