Thanks for Visiting my Just Giving page.
As you may know during the past few years both Lucinda and I have lost our Mam's to Cancer, and watched while they and other close friends (including Auntie Val and Michelle Milburn) have shown incredible
bravery battling with this awful illness.
Inspired by their courage and the inner strength they found to fight their illnesses, we decided that we should do our bit and help raise some money to help fight cancer, but felt that if we were going to ask you to donate your hard earned money, the challenge
should be worthy of the cause and require some degree of that same courage that they showed, which is why we have chosen the Himalayian 100.
In late October 2010, I will be travelling to Delhi and from there
onwards to Bagdogra and eventually overland to Mirik, a small village
high in the Himalayas on the border with Nepal. Getting there may be a
challenge in itself, but once there my real challenge will begin,
joined by around 40 runners from around the world, to undertake what
can only be described as one of the toughest runs on the planet, a 100
mile stage run, starting at a staggering 6000 feet and climbing above
the clouds into the shadows of Mount Everest at some
12,000 feet.
The reason for my trip is simple, to raise money for The Eve Appeal. The Eve Appeal is a registered charity dedicated to saving lives by funding groundbreaking research into Gynaecological cancers. The research that they fund is challenging and complicated but their vision is simple: a world in which more women survive and fewer women develop Gynaecological cancers.
Donating
is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe, and JustGiving will never share them or send you unwanted emails. Once you donate, your money will go directly to the charity along with any Gift Aid that can be reclaimed on eligible donations (by UK taxpayers).
We know that many of you have lost loved ones to many different kinds of
cancer and that these days you're asked to donate to lots of worthwhile causes, that’s why we are only asking you to donate a couple of pounds. What we'd really like you to do is pass this message on to all your friends and colleagues, because if we all only donate a pound and all of our friends donate a pound together we can make a huge difference.
Note: None of the money you donate will be going towards paying for the race entry , travel or any associated costs, (all of which are being covered by Lucinda and I).
