Story
This August I’m going to be climbing Mount Rainier as a part of the 2023 “Climb for a Cause” to raise funds for the Washington National Park Fund.
The WNPF works hard to make parks accessible, maintains hiking trails, supports scientific research, runs educational programs and helps preserve the beautiful nature at the Mt Rainier, Olympic and North Cascades National Parks. I encourage you to take a look at the “Park Priority Projects” for WNPF (https://wnpf.org/our-priorities/projects-we-fund/funded-projects/) to see the type of projects that your donations will be supporting.
This is also a chance for me to achieve a personal goal of climbing the tallest mountain in Washington. Climbing Mt. Rainier will be a great way to cap off my fifth year (can’t believe it) living out here in the PNW.
As an east coaster by origin, I’ve always been blown away by the natural beauty of Washington State and the accessibility/importance of nature to everyone in this region. I’ve been lucky enough to experience it first-hand through many hikes, runs, trips and other adventures over the years. For this project, my fundraising goal is $3500. I will be personally contributing the equivalent cost of a guided climb of the mountain (~$2000) to make sure the money you donate is going towards WNPF.
Thank you in advance to anyone that donates for your support. I’ll be sure to post updates and pictures to my social media of my training and of the climb itself so you can make sure I suffered appropriately for the cause :')
