David Paul Carvell, born on the 11th March 1991 was a very handsome, kind hearted and happy young man. He would always see the best in everybody and was always willing to put himself out to help other people. He had so much patience and time for everyone. He also had a great sense of humour which meant David would always bring a smile to everyone’s faces, no matter how they were feeling.

David had started work as a painter and decorator when he left Hassenbrook School at 16 and did a decorating course at college, but due to becoming ill at the age of 17 that soon came to an end. David loved to go to the gym and to spend time with his family and friends. He was a big fan of West Ham United and had a season ticket for many years, which he would attend with his dad, his little brother Roman or other family and friends.

He was the life and soul of every party and always up for a dance. The fact that David suffered from severe hypertension and a calcified aorta from the age of 17 and had many hospital visits as well as taking various medications never once affected David’s attitude towards people or life.

We believe David would have wanted his name to live on and be it through helping other people. If David could spread a little bit of his love and kindness to others giving them the outlook and strength David had to fight each day and make it as good as possible we believe this would make him happy.

He was always a joy to be around, and could brighten anyone’s day, which is why few of our family members nicknamed David their ‘Sunshine’. He is loved by so many, and missed by all that knew him, but we know he would be so pleased and proud to be able to once again help other people through his name.

The people who knew David can never forget him, but we want to give other people the opportunity to hear David’s story and for it to inspire them in whatever they do and spread a little bit of sunshine into everyone’s lives.

Very sadly David passed away on Christmas Eve 2011.

David's family have worked closely with Children's heart federation and continued David's memory to raise vital funds to support other heart children and their families.
