Story
It is nearly two years since my mum lost her brave battle with secondary breast cancer back in August 2017. Throughout all the treatments from her initial diagnosis Mum always remained strong and positive; climbing mountains, visiting remote parts of the UK and walking the dog up until her final weeks. Not a day goes by without her in my thoughts and I will always miss her laughter, her wisdom and her voice at the end of the phone.
It was in her final few weeks in Weston Park Hospital that Cavendish Cancer Care provided Mum with complimentary therapy to make her as comfortable as possible - aromatherapy and Reiki being particularly enjoyable! - so I wanted to do something in memory of Mum and to help those who helped her.
Cavendish Cancer Care is a Sheffield charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for those living with cancer and their loved ones.Last year, they supported over 1,700 people affected by cancer, including carers and children. They offer free-of-charge packages of therapy and support, tailored to each individual's specific needs. But Cavendish only receive enough statutory funding to keep their doors open for about two weeks each year, meaning they rely on the generosity of the public to keep running. Put simply - they need your help.
