The purpose of this charity game is in tribute to ALL the "Hockey Parents" out there who dedicate their time in order for all us kids to play the game we grew up loving. One parent in particular... My dearly departed mother Joyce Winstanley, who's life was cut short at the age of 51 by this relatively 'unknown illness' (pulmonary hypertension). This year marks the 10th year of my late mother's passing and the date this event will take place would have been her 62nd birthday. 

My mother in the early stages of her illness which went undiagnosed for a long time, spent her time driving me miles away from home to Deeside Ice rink so that I could practice and play the game I loved, because nothing made her happier than seeing her children happy. In 2018 I had made a return to playing the Great game after a 5 year hiatus in which I have reacquainted with some old faces and met some awesome new people who are in full support of this fund raiser. This is my way of paying tribute to all those great parents out there and a special thank you my late mother Joyce for all her time spent freezing in the rinks over the years and putting in the miles. I'm forever grateful.
