Story
I'm fundraising to support my local athletics club Thames Valley Harriers (TVH), which has been an important part of my life for the last 30 years. I'd appreciate your support!
TVH is a Community Amateur Sports Club run by volunteers, based at the Linford Christie Stadium in West London, providing athletics coaching and competitions to athletes of all ages, from local children to international athletes. We rely heavily on donations and fund raising, without which we are not able to support our athletes with essential financial support, coaching and kit.
This summer, we have no track to train on, no competitions for our athletes, and we have had to cancel or postpone fund raising events because of the Covid 19 crisis and lockdown. Many of our athletes are still training hard, hoping that competitions will resume soon.
The 2.6 Challenge has been set up to help charities raise funds during
the Covid 19 crisis and takes the marathon distance (26 miles) as the
number to base challenges on; performing a challenge 26 times or variations on a theme of 26.
I am challenging myself to run 2.6 miles per day for 20 days in June, the equivalent of 2 marathons (52.4 miles).
This is further than I have managed in the previous 6 months, so represents a considerable personal challenge.
All money raised through the TVH 2.6 Challenge (donations and gift aid) will be split equally between TVH and the Care Workers' Charity (CWC) covid 19 emergency fund which provides money and support to care workers who are self isolating.
Thank you for supporting TVH and CWC.
