My wife Kellie, was diagnosed aged 30 with myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) and it is an awful illness. She has gone from a being an active adult who lived life to the full to now, on her bad days, being unable to even walk or do the basic things we all take for granted. It is heartbreaking to watch when her body doesn't allow her to play with our little boy because she is in so much pain. No matter how much sleep she gets, she will wake up the next day still feeling extremely fatigued, it is never-ending. There is still so little known or understood about ME and many still don't see it as a real illness...trust me when I say this...it really is. The impact on her, myself and family has been huge. She has even had to reduce her hours in work considerably due to the illness rendering her unable to work full-time. Through it all however we have stayed strong as a family and have amazing friends who have not forgotten the struggle my wife faces every single day. It is very true that ME can render the sufferer invisible and it is vital that we do not let the sufferers disappear but instead help them to recover their lives.
Any amount you can donate will help, and having donations will only spur me on even further to achieve what I have set myself to do. Updates and photographs will be posted on this page as I complete each event.
