Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Over the past three years MAC’s wonderful supporters have given more than £12,000 to help vulnerable and disadvantaged children in Northern Zambia, giving them a chance of life beyond poverty and handouts, through education and training, and helping to create sustainable communities.
Their generosity has enabled us to construct four additional classrooms with secure windows and doors at Misenga School and to refurbish their furniture. As a result, the school has more than doubled the number of pupils. At Trust Community School we have secured two new teachers and paid for their training. We have also funded new pit latrines, sports equipment and refurbished furniture. We provided face masks for staff and pupils at both schools during the Covid pandemic.
I am now seeking to raise further funds to support Trust Community School. My goal is to raise £3,500 to allow the continued provision of a daily meal for the 350 pupils over the coming year. For many this is their only substantial meal in the day – a porridge of mealie maize mixed with groundnuts and soya beans. Some children
have to walk many miles to school every day, arriving tired, hungry and in a poor state to learn effectively. For them this meal is vital. Anything you can give will make a difference.
In order to achieve this goal I have signed up for a fourth self-funded challenge, this time cycling 250 miles from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam to Angkor Wat in Cambodia. Over 7 days from 18-24 November I’ll be riding along rural tracks (lined with banana plants
and palms), through towns and villages, over canals and rivers (sometimes by boat), past pagodas, temples and floating markets. Crossing into Cambodia, I’ll visit Phnom Penh and then follow the Mekong River before arriving at the famous ruins of Angkor.
I am expecting it to be hot, sticky and very tiring!
Anything you can give will encourage me in my efforts. Thank you for your support.
