Story
Now let me explain a bit more about Georgia....
My daughter Georgia has Rett Syndrome, Rett Syndrome is a neurological genetic condition affecting 1 in 10,000 girls (and some very rare boys). Rett Syndrome leaves Georgia unable to walk, talk or use her hands, developed epilepsy which has led to multiple trips to our local A&E, there is the possibility she will get scoliosis, develop breathing difficulties, require feeding through a tube which we are thankful she doesn't currently have. Reverse Rett raise money to fund research into a cure and treatments for symptoms. They are currently supporting clinical trials in the UK specific to Rett Syndrome and also a specialised clinic at King's College London. There is also hope there will be a gene therapy clinical trial in the next year or two leading to a cure. They support many research institutes who research treatments and cures for Rett Syndrome.
On Sunday October 4th 2020, I will be attempting my first ever marathon with my good friend and running sidekick Trevor Jones. Also at various locations around the East Midlands my friends and fellow Team CGP members Sam Bowen, Steff Riley, Callum Blockley, Stanley Stannard and Tom Cowling will be doing the same.
Since I discovered I actually like running, it has been a dream of mine to run the London Marathon for Reverse Rett but I have failed to gain entry through the ballot, but in the current climate taking part virtually is the next best thing.
