Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As I promised in my FB post on the anniversary of Gary's death I would embark on a bunch of challenges to raise money for the NSW Emergency Services. I will only ask you for money once and in return I will ache, hurt, bleed, cry and laugh, so you will get your moneys worth :-)
In this, my 50th year on planet earth what better than take on the challenge I have crafted below? I promise you that during the year I intend to execute this lot over, I will be as busy as a one legged man in an arse kicked competition and by the end of it I should be able to "out run a Scouser with a handbag", mind you I guess I wont reach the admirable heights of "sweating like a Scouser leaving Dixons" (joke JP). For the colonials among you, please ask a Brit how much a Scouser would be sweating as he passes the security scanners when he has all those DVD'd up his jumper :-)
THE CHALLENGE IN 365 DAY
a. 1/2 Marathon in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales - 8000kcal / 10 hours / 52miles
b. Tough Mudder - 2000kcal / 3 hours / 12 miles
c. 100 mile bike ride - 4000kcal / 7 hours / 100miles
d. 3 Triathlons - 6000kcal / 6 hours / 50 miles
e. South to North Ireland on a bike 4 days - 16000kcal / 32 hours / 417miles
This little lot will result in:
36,000kcal or 12lb wieght loss
58 hours of pain
72 mile running
1.5km swim
577 mile bike ride
PLUS ALL THE TRAINING!!!
I truly promise you will get every penny of your donation out of me. Quite simply I despise running so 72 mile in total is nearly 3 marathons.
Then looking at the bike rides for example. A lot of people say "wow you don't look 50 with 3 grand kids" well there is a reason........... I manage to keep the wrinkles out of my face as I have gravity dropping parts of my anatomy that should not be going south yet. So the prospect of sitting on a razor sharp Racers saddle for 577 miles should bring a smile to the more sadistic among you :-)
The first event is next Sunday 7th September, 100 miles around Wiltshire joined by Dermot OKelly, Dave Cottee, Simon Mikhail and Rob Kavanagh. The most I have every done so far 69 miles and that nearly killed me!!!
I will select the 1/2s and Tris and post them up soon. The ToughMudder is being supported by Craig Tweddle, Andy Buchanan, Alex Tabb, Dave Hughes and Angela Burton - Team GAZ!!!
The ToughMudder is 25th October in Hampshire, so join Team Gaz if you fancy a weekend of sweat and pain soothed by drinking loads afterwards :-) BTW - We are featured in a BBC documentary on the whole story on this one, so if you want to get your mug on the box simply register
Please feel free to join me on any event.
