Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
2020 marked 75 incredible years of MAF's life-transforming work. So, in 2021 I am accepting MAF's, COVID-delayed, 7&5 challenge to raise funds for this wonderful organisation which uses aviation and technology to deliver help, hope and healing to people in some of the remotest areas on our planet, to people otherwise denied it by long and difficult overland journeys. So, for instance, MAF has recently been at the forefront of delivering COVID vaccines to parts of countries where delivery overland is impossible due to the vaccines' refrigeration requirements. To find out more about MAF's work visit www.maf-uk.org.
Please support MAF by sponsoring me to do a 75 mile, individual cyle ride on Friday 20th August (or Saturday 21st August if the weather is more suitable). In an aviation theme, I will cycle from home in Naphill to Halton airfield, where I do still fly, and then to Bicester airfield, where I enjoyed flying with the University Air Squadron in my undergraduate years. From Bicester I will head home to Naphill. (There is a map of the proposed route in the gallery on this page - click on the icon top right of the main picture to open gallery)
Following the 7&5 theme, I will start at 07.50 (GMT) and aim to be finished in around 7.5 hours, including refreshment breaks, and hope to raise at least £750. I have rarely ridden 75 miles in a day and certainly not since I turned 70, so please support me, but above all please support MAF's life-changing work.
