Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
One man dies from prostate cancer every hour, that's 10,000 men each year. Unfortunately last year one of them was my friend Rick and at his funeral I made a commitment to myself that I would do something to raise money to try and help prevent others from dying from prostate cancer.
I want to raise as much money as I possibly can and therefore decided to do something that seemed big. Cycling 1,000 miles from Lands End to John O'Groats seemed to fit the bill and I'm signed up to do it in 12 days, starting on 1st September.
I have never cycled 80+ miles in a day, let alone done it for 12 days in a row, and the thought of the challenge is more than a bit daunting. However, I have been training and recently completed the Great Yorkshire Bike Ride, 70 miles from Wetherby to Filey, which gives me confidence that with 2+ months to go I can do this.
Those who know me say that I am one of those driven people that more often than not manages to achieve what I set out to do - it might not be pretty but I will get the task done.
Raising a lot of money for The Prostate Cancer Charity is why I am doing this. Your donations will make the hours of trainig and the pain worth the effort, please be generous, your donation will very much be appreciated and will make a difference.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
