Story
Tomorrow sees the 7 year that I have taken part and helped in organising the Carten 100 bike ride to Tenby, www.carten100.co.uk. When we started it was just a bit of fun but it has now grown to a major charitable event. This year we should have 650 riders taking part. As a consequence we can now make a difference to the charity we support. I want the event to get to the magic 6 figure sum in donations and would ask that you dig deep for me and donate what you can.
This year is especially close to my heart as we support JDRF, the Junior Diabetes Research Foundation. Just a few years ago whilst we were preparing to all go on holiday with friends, ‘Katie Boo’, Bev’s goddaughter fell ill and was diagnosed as developing diabetes as the result of a viral infection.
Despite only just getting used to the shock we carried on with the holiday an I experienced firsthand how difficult It is managing a young persons’ blood sugar levels. Telling her that she couldn’t have ice cream whilst all the other kids were digging in was heartbreaking. That’s not to mention the long term effects of this condition, these can be devastating so we need to find the cure!
Many of my friends are now taking part in this and raising money themselves so if you have donated to them, I thank you, if not please consider my page.
