I'm raising money for Meningitis as a good friend of mine sadly lost her grand daughter to this horrible disease.  Maya was just 21 months old and within 16 hours of falling ill she was sadly taken from her family.  Being a parent myself I can not imagine what the pain of losing a child would be like

Meningitis was always one of those things that happens to other people and never to anyone I know, even when I heard Maya was in hospital I still believed she would make a recovery, I never knew how aggressive it could be, it was a real shock to me, it really is a race against time. 

Meningitis research have now developed, and had licensed, a vaccine called Bexsero.  Meningitis are now recommending to the government that this vaccine should be made compulsory to all children.  To date the recommendation has not been passed but the fight goes on.

Giving whatever you can to this charity will help prevent another family suffering this same tragedy.  Making people aware of the signs to look out for, I thought I knew, but there is so much more we need to be aware of.  Newborn treatment research costs are £56,356 for a year.  £3,700 would pay for enough Babywatch cards to reach new parents for a year so a donatiion of any size will have an impact on this live saving work.  And lets help get this vaccine pushed through
