Story
I am recovering from a cardiac arrest on 24th March 2018 that happened at the Out of Bounds activity centre in Angmering. Fortunately there was an off duty doctor whom is the father of one of my daughter's friends. He was able to give me CPR with the use of an on site defibrillator. The paramedics also were able to shock me and I was lucky to survive. The cardiac arrest is caused due a heart condition I have called dilated cardiomyopathy which is a familial genetic condition as my father died at 48. One of my brothers also has the condition. I am now a lot safer due to having an ICD and my heart is now paced with a device.
I intend to walk 4 miles and I am currently walking 2 to 3 miles without difficulty at the moment. I am raising money for the Cardiac Rehab support in West Sussex due to the great work they do in helping people with life changing cardiac conditions.
