Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the London Marathon next year in memory of Steven Ellwood, a great friend of mine who sadly passed away in February 2015 after complications following heart transplant surgery. I had known Steve since nursery, growing up together and sharing many memories. He was due to be best man at my wedding 5 weeks after he passed, when he found out there was a heart available and would be having the surgery, he contacted his brother and one of mine to ensure plans for the stag night would go ahead. That said a lot about the man he was, a great friend and the nicest guy you could meet.
Steve suffered a heart attack in 2007 and required an internal defibrillator to be fitted. In late 2014 he learned his heart had deteriorated and in January 2015 he was placed on the transplant waiting list. On Friday 13th February 2015, Steve went into theatre for transplant surgery that would prolong his life. The surgery went well and was successful, unfortunately, there were complications and he passed away on Monday 16th February 2015.
Steve is survived by his loving wife Karen and much loved son Jack, now 2 years old. Also survived by mother and father, Iris and Jim, and brother Jonathan.
My aim is to raise as much money as possible to help the foundation combat heart disease and support families.
All donations will be greatly received and will help me with my tribute to much loved man - my friend.
