Story
Walk for Sir Bobby!
On 21st September 2009 David Pritchard is going to embark on a charity walk from Plymouth to Newcastle upon Tyne in memory of Sir Bobby Robson. All money raised will go to The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation - Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Charity. Dave aims to walk over 20 miles per day and to complete the journey within 30 days. He will have a maximum budget of £10 per day for expenses and will be relying on human kindness along the way! Dave will be collecting sponsorship and donations before and during the walk.
Sir Bobby Robson fought cancer an incredible five times. Sadly, 17 years after his first diagnosis, he lost that long and courageous battle on 31 July 2009. He died very peacefully at his County Durham home with his wife and family beside him.
During the last 18 months of his life, and after retiring from football management, Sir Bobby worked hard towards a new goal - fighting cancer through his charity.
The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation focuses on the early detection and treatment of cancer and the clinical trials of new drugs that will eventually beat it. Please do what you can to support the ongoing work of the Foundation by making a donation.
The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Charity is the official charity for the Freeman Hospital. The charity enhances patient care, treatment and experience through a wide variety of grants; supports innovative research and facilitates additional training and support for NHS staff.
