Story
That defibrillator located at your neighbourhood shopping parade, or the one at your local community centre, or outside the village hall, or by the school, or in what you always thought was an out of use old-fashioned red phone box…: Each of those defibrillators saves lives.
But that community-based life saving equipment isn’t provided by the government. It is provided by local organisations and community groups, often supported by charitable bodies such as the Yorkshire Ambulance Service Charity.
I am proud to work for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust. I’m a corporate type, based at HQ. A ‘suit’. I don’t get to wear the green uniform. I don’t have interactions with patients. I don’t save lives. But I can raise money to support equipment that does save lives.
