Story

I have been extremely fortunate to be given the opportunity to join Team CLIC Sargent supporting young lives against cancer by running the London Marathon next year and attempting to run the Brighton Marathon one week earlier! Each marathon will be ran with my running buddies, Dave for London and Jamie for Brighton who will help me through this challenge to raise as much funds as possible for CLIC. Marathon training commences New Years day.

I have two fantastic teenage children who are fortunate to be fit and healthy but many other children are not and are affected by Cancer which has led me down this path to support his worthy charity. One in two people of all ages will be affected by cancer including our own family and friends. More recently my father David Senior suddenly passed away in May with cancer. I will be honoured to run this race in his memory and to raise funds, awareness and supporting Cancer Leukaemia In Childhood Sargent charity.

CLIC provide day to day specialist support to young cancer patients and families by offering financial support, nursing,  home from homes care, getting lives back on track both during and after treatment. Bereavement support when the unthinkable happens and  also providing continuous research and campaigning for young cancer patients and their families to get the right support from our government.

How donations can help at CLIC Sargent.

  • £4 could pay for a CLIC storybook that explains childhood cancer to in simple, easy to understand language.
  • £15 could pay for a copy of CLIC DVD helping bereaved families to understand and cope with their grief.
  • £46 pays for a CLIC social worker to be there soon after diagnosis giving families one to one support.
  • £170 could pay for CLIC grant to help stop cancer costs spiralling.
  • £330 could pay for a family to stay 10 nights at a CLIC Sargent home from home providing free accommodation close to where their child is receiving cancer treatment.
  • £1050 could pay for CLIC Sargent Nurse for a week providing care and support at home so that families can avoid travel and stay together where possible.
