Story
My aim is to run in the Marathon Des Sables (MDS) in April 2013 and try to raise as much as I can for St Barnabas hospice .The MDS covers 151 miles and is run over 6 days; it’s a gruelling race. Set in the Moroccan desert, daytime temperatures can reach 50 degrees C, around 600 competitors from 30 countries take part every year. Competitors carry all their own food and equipment themselves.
During training and the MDS I hope to raise as much as I can for St Barnabas Hopsice.
St Barnabas House is a local independent charitable hospice, and so relies on donations and other forms of fundraising. The hospice team consists of nurses, doctors, social workers, counsellors, chaplain, physiotherapists, complementary therapists, artist-in-residence and volunteers.
I am now about halfway through my preparation; I recently completed the London to Brighton run totalling 61.8 miles.
Training is quite tough, but I can quit anytime I like, please spare a thought for those who have no choice to but to fight against their cancer with no choice of quitting
