Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running the 2018 London Marathon in order to raise funds for 'Beat', the UK's eating disorder charity, and raise awareness of the eating disorders they support.

Eating disorders are still widely misunderstood and stigmatised illnesses.  They do not discriminate and affect anyone of any age, gender or background.  Up to 1 in every 16 adults (with 25% being men) have an eating disorder and their incidence is increasing - thought in part due to the increased use of social media.

'Beat' supports people and their families affected by eating disorders but also strives to educate everyone about them in order that they can be spoken about openly and therefore allow early diagnosis and rapid treatment - the faster the treatment the greater the chance of full recovery.

I hope you share my desire to raise awareness of this little known charity and help those affected by the complex illnesses they support.

Beat is the UK’s eating disorder charity. Our mission is to end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders. These serious mental illnesses ruin and, too often, take lives. Our Helpline is available online or by phone for anyone suffering, as well as their family and friends.
