Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page
I'm going to tell you a short version of what I can remember about my unfortunate experience.
At the age of 18 without knowing I become very unwell. I felt sick and had flu like symptoms. I tried to brush it off but my mum made me go to the drs. I went to the drs and he could see pressure behind my eyes. I got sent to singleton hospital where I saw many consultants and was told I had to stay there the night. I wasn't sure at this point what was going on. The next day they moved me to Morriston hospital where I had various tests and head scans. To my disbelief I was told I had a large brain tumour and I had a week left to live. 2 days later I had an operation to make a hole in the tumour so the liquid could drain. I was pumped with steroids and I put on roughly 6 stone. I went on to a hospital in Sheffield where I had radio therapy with the hope of shrinking the tumour. Unfortunately this didn't happen, it doubled in size. I started having double vision and feeling very unwell. I had to go back to Morriston hospital for more tests. I spent my 19th birthday there. After that I went to Bristol hospital to have major brain surgery to have the tumour removed. Thankfully This was successful. I have a large scar on the right side of my head and still to this day I have yearly head scans at Heath Hospital in Cardiff but apart from that I'm fine and very lucky to be alive.
So.....After being told I had a week left to live, I am now a healthy happy 33 year old married man running the Swansea half marathon.
I would be very grateful for any donation of any amount......it all helps. Thank you all in advance, it means a lot.
