Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I met my friend John, at the end of last Summer holidays, for a coffee and catch-up. He asked me how I'd spent my summer, so I told him all about the various holiday trips I'd done. Then I asked about his summer, and in that quiet voice you reserve for unimportant things, he told me he had been diagnosed with inoperable prostate cancer.
I was speechless. My holidays seemed lightweight, and insignificant, when compared to the news he had been living with for months, and would go on living with, for his remaining years.
I realise that I am fortunate not to be in John's situation. Because I am able, I want to help raise funds for The Prostate Cancer charity, who work tirelessly supporting those less fortunate than myself, who find they are victims of prostate cancer.
So I have set myself a personal challenge - to walk the 500 mile Camino de Santiago, in Northern Spain. I'm not looking for sponsorship "per mile" or anything like that. I want (need!) ENCOURAGEMENT to cover this long distance, unaided. I've set myself a fund-raising target of £2,500 - equivalent to £5 per mile! - but would love to beat that.
Knowing I have your support will give me extra determination to see the journey through. And please don't wait to see if I finish. Please just give, now, and in so doing, encourage me and support a truly worthy cause!
