I've decided to do something fairly mental (even by my standards) and the timing has aligned with me wanting to raise money for an amazing cause that's very close to my heart - as well as to many others!

First, the what.

I'm taking part in The Spine Challenger, a non-stop 108 mile foot race.
That also happens in January.
Along the Pennine Way in the North of England.
With a cut off of 60 hours.
And under 8 hours of daylight per day.

So that's just over 4 marathons in 2.5 days, with what the website describes as: "extreme weather, storm force winds, snow, extreme ice, bogs, fog, hail, mud and almost anything else you can think of!"

More importantly, the why?

Other than the inevitable "because you're mad", I'm doing it to raise money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

I'm choosing to put myself through this ridiculous event - but over the last year and a half have seen someone very close to me not have the choice of going through a load of pain and exhaustion (as well as being really cold, but I think that's just her). Plus cancer isn't over with a 60 hour cut off time.

Thankfully the Royal Marsden Cancer hospital along with a few other London hospitals successfully treated her so this is my way of giving back. Every donation will help the lives of future cancer patients get the care and treatment they need.

The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity gives vital funds to life saving cancer research, helps deliver world leading patient treatment and care, as well as providing state of the art equipment to save lives.
