Story
UPDATE: Thank you all for your support, it's really touching to see your messages and donations. I finished today, having run from Edale to Malham, a distance of 126.7km. I will leave the page for a few more weeks in case there are any further donations to come.
My mum Mary passed away in August last year from terminal Pancreatic Cancer, peacefully at her home and surrounded by those she loved.
We were supported by Ashgate Hospice throughout her illness, and it was with their help that she was given the palliative care she needed at the end of her life.
I would like to raise some money to help other people and their families in a similar situation. My plan is to run as far as I can on the Pennine Way north from Edale in 24 hours, starting on Saturday 24 July.
I have run some long distances before, but nothing of this magnitude - it will be a real challenge to see how far I can get!
If you are not familiar with the Pennine Way, it runs around 250 miles north from Edale in Derbyshire to the Scottish Borders across the Pennines. Given that the fastest known time for the whole route is 58 Hours and 4 minutes, I suspect that I am unlikely to make it all the way to Scotland!
